Celebrating National Nanotechnology Day
Nano Day EES2 Pledge Signing Ceremony
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) is celebrating National Nanotechnology Day with a live stream, welcoming four new pledge signers to DOE’s Microelectronics Energy Efficiency Scaling for 2 Decades (EES2) Initiative from 4:30–5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 9.
The event will feature a welcome from DOE providing background on EES2 and its connection to National Nanotechnology Day, followed by a pledge ceremony for it’s four newest participants — joining the initiatives 65 pledgers to date — and an updated analysis of the potential for energy efficiency in computing by EES2’s lead analyst, Sadasivan Shankar.
The four new pledgers are a mixture of small businesses — KB Science LLC (a woman-owned small business) and Pixelligent Technologies LLC (a MD-based nanomaterial manufacturer), non-profits — Earth Information and Communication Technologies, SPC, and educational organizations — UC-Riverside Materials Science and Engineering Department (a Minority Serving Institute). Each pledger will make remarks explaining why they are signing the EES2 pledge and why nanotechnology is important to them.
