Anna Herr, Ph.D

Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder, Snowcap Compute

Dr. Anna Herr is one of the world’s leading experts in superconducting compute, with a career spanning three decades at the frontier of digital circuits and systems. She co-founded Snowcap Compute to build the first commercially available superconducting compute platform—unlocking a new class of data centers optimized for AI, quantum, and high-performance computing.

Throughout her career, Anna has held senior scientific and engineering roles at imec and Northrop Grumman, where she was named a Fellow for her contributions to advanced computing technologies. Earlier, as a professor at Chalmers University of Technology and research fellow of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Sweden, she shaped foundational work in superconducting digital logic, memory, and EDA tools.

She pioneered the 28 nm superconducting process  and her work is widely recognized with over 90 publications, 25 patents, and multiple Northrop Grumman Innovation and Leadership awards. Her research spans superconducting systems, VLSI circuit design, magnetic memory, and classical control for qubits.

Anna holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
